Difference?

What’s the difference between Malaysia & Australia?

Situation 1

When you’re walking home with bags full of groceries & it starts to rain. (It’s already dark)

In Australia :

Someone approaches you with an umbrella & asks you “Hey, excuse me? Do you want to share the umbrella?”

You say “Yes, thank you so much!”

In Malaysia :

When someone approaches you, you walk faster. When they call out for you, and you’re certain they mean you, you walk even faster or start running thinking that they’re people with bad intentions.

Situation 2

You see a stranger smiling at you, or notice someone looking at you , the person says ” Hi”

In Australia :

You smile or say “hi” back to the person & start conversing . (it’s impolite to ignore the person)

In Malaysia :

You either ignore the person or think “that person siao ah? why smile at me for no reason? I like know him/ her only”

Situation 3

You make an appointment with a friend to meet at 10 am.

In Australia :

Your friend arrives on time at 10 am & you guys head off to wherever you planned to go. (it’s rude to be late)

In Malaysia :

Your friend arrives half an hour later… you get pissed waiting for the fella and all you get is from him is “aiyah.. Malaysian time mah” or as Swei has pointed out .. โ€œAIYO TRAFFIC JAM MAH. WAIT ALSO CANNOT MEH.โ€

I can’t think of anything else to add yet =p might add it later? or maybe Santi can edit the post & add her examples…

Muuuuuun! All those cracked me up. And no, people don’t reply with malaysian timing. More like “AIYO TRAFFIC JAM MAH. WAIT ALSO CANNOT MEH.” Hahahhahahaa.

And babe, I definitely agree with you on situation 1.

You tend to think strangers in different country are nicer, rather than the ones here. LOL.

    BTW,

    Situation 2

You see a stranger smiling at you, or notice someone looking at you , the person says โ€ Hiโ€

    In Australia :

You smile or say โ€œhiโ€ back to the person & start conversing . (itโ€™s impolite to ignore the person)

YOU SERIOUSLY DO THAT? Yay, suet mun is not shy anymore! ๐Ÿ˜€

Hmmmm… the drivers there? I can’t really compare because I’ve never really sat in a bus around KL before =p so I don’t know if there is a difference.. but you rarely see accidents here…
