JDramas

If you don’t already know… I’m a freak for all things Japanese… Well mostly the language and the entertainment LOL. I have quite a collection of Japanese anime and dramas which I keep myself entertained with. I’ll introduce you my favourite ones, whether or not it appeals to you is another story though… It depends on your individual tastes though. One more thing… If you’re gonna watch Japanese dramas, don’t watch any dubbed ones… they just ruin the drama. Same goes with anime.

Firstly, the ultimate tear jerker…

1リットルの涙 (Ichi Ritoru no Namida) / 1 Litre of Tears

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Ichi_Ritoru_no_Namida

Genre: School, romance, family, human

Length : 11 episodes +1 Special

Synopsis

15-year-old Ikeuchi Aya was an ordinary girl, the daughter of a family who works at a tofu shop, and a soon-to-be high schooler. However, odd things have been happening to Aya lately. She has been falling down often and walks strange. Her mother, Shioka, takes Aya to see the doctor, and he informs Shioka that Aya has spinocerebellar degeneration – a terrible disease where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind in the least. How will Aya react when told about her disease? And how will Aya live from now on?

Cast: Sawajiri Erika (Ikeuchi Aya), Nishikido Ryo (Asou Haruto), Fujiki Naohito (Mizuno Hiroshi-sensei)

This, I’m sure you would have either watched it or heard of it. It is based on a very inspirational true story that happened a few decades ago about a girl with a strong will to live that inspired so many people, this drama was adapted from the diary she left behind. For those who easily get emotional from watching dramas, prepare a box of tissue before you start watching it. If you watch it marathon style, make sure you’re not going to work or school or even shopping the next day. OR… you could always watch it for Ryo-chan!

Next, another sad drama I saw on TV but missed most of the episodes, I tried searching online for subbed versions but failed to find any so I watched it raw instead. This one is quite old.

愛し君へ (Itoshi kimi e) / To the One I Love

Shiki Tomokawa is a new pediatrician who is enjoying her life. She falls in love with Shunsuke, a cameraman, who is destined to lose his eyesight in a couple of months. How will Shiki react when she finds out Shunsuke’s destiny?

“To the One I Love” takes place in two contrasting cities—in the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, and in the peaceful city of Nagasaki, and depicts both the joys and sadness of life, and the interaction with family and friends. — Fuji TV

Cast : Fujiki Naohito ( Azumi Shunsuke) ,  Kanno Miho ( Tomokawa Shiki)

This one was obviously another tear jerker but not as bad as 1 Litre of tears… What I liked about this drama is that they gave it a great ending. Also, about how love can give people hope.

Next are the ones that will give you a stomachache from laughing.

CHANGE

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/CHANGE
Genre: Human drama, politics
Episodes: 10

Synopsis

The story begins with the deaths of ruling party’s Fukuoka legislator and his eldest son, his heir apparent, in an accident. It is decided that a by-election will be held, and Kanbayashi Masaichi, the leader of the ruling party, and secretary Miyama Rika conceive the idea of fielding the second son, Asakura Keita, who had been renounced by his father.

After Keita graduated from senior high school, he went on to a university in Nagano because he wanted to live in a place with beautiful stars, and eventually became an elementary school teacher over there. Well-liked by children and satisfied with his beloved star gazing, Keita has no interest in the world of politics. However, at Rika’s persuasion and the pressure of his family, he reluctantly decides to announce his candidacy.

Upon returning to Fukuoka, Keita is given a hearty welcome by supporters. The election strategist, Nirasawa Katsutoshi, arrives there. He is guided by the notion “election is the only permitted legal war” and begins Keita’s election campaign. —jade_frost

Cast: Kimura Takuya (Asakura Keita), Fukatsu Eri (Miyama Rika)

I’ve never had an interest in political dramas before, this was the first one to catch my attention. First off you’ll see Mojakura, a elementary school teacher with curly hair and thick rimmed glasses then he changes into Asakura Keita and runs for the general election. Of course it’s only a drama, stuff on television almost never happens but it makes you wish that it could happen.  If only all politicians in the world were like him LOL.. I know.. wishful thinking.
